Emmy Award-winning journalist Ken Eckhardt has been news director and anchor of NYIT’s LI News Tonight since 1986. LI News Tonight is the nightly television news program produced at the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, New York as a community service.
Prior to that, Eckhardt worked as a print journalist in Westport, Connecticut before moving on to radio news in Stamford and Bridgeport, Connecticut. Eckhardt began his TV career at TelePrompter TV6 in Danbury, Connecticut as news director, reporter and anchor and then moved on as news director and anchor at NBC affiliate KUMV-TV in Williston, North Dakota and anchor/reporter at PBS television in Portland Oregon. Ken Eckhardt was named “Long Island Journalist of the Year” by the Press Club of Long Island and in addition to the Emmy, Ken has won awards from the Long Island Coalition for Fair Broadcasting, the Associated Press and the Press Club of Long Island. Eckhardt received his B.A. from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey and his M.A. in Corporate and Political Communication from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. |

Carol Pack is an award-winning journalist who works as the assignment manager and fill-in anchor at LI News Tonight, a nightly newscast on Cablevision channel 29. Carol has worked there since 1987, after receiving her B.A. and M.A. from NYIT.
During her career, she has also freelanced as a news writer for News Channel 4 (WNBC) and News 12 Long Island (Cablevision). She created and produced a pilot for a proposed special-interest series for the PAX network and has written and co-produced public service announcements for the Education & Assistance Corporation. Carol is an award winning journalist whose work has received awards from the Fair Media Coalition and the Press Club of Long island. A board member of the Press Club of Long Island since 1991, Carol was president of PCLI from 1998 to 2002 (making her the longest-tenured president in PCLI history). She is currently seeking literary representation for her first novel – Code Name: Dahlia –an historic spy-thriller about a foiled Nazi invasion plot. |

Award winning program director for LI News Tonight, Gary Licker has helped hundreds of
aspiring journalists secure their first job in television news. LI News Tonight is a nightly television newscast that is produced as a community service of the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, New York.
Gary graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a B.S. in Business Management. He’s been an essential member of the LI News Tonight team since 1987. During that time he completed his M.A. in Communication Arts at NYIT. Throughout his career, Gary has always maintained an active role in the media world. In 1999, he produced a documentary for PBS: No-Hit Wonder, The Aztec Two-Step Story. In addition, his children’s handwriting book, “Writing-Right with Professor Pendelton Pencil” was published in 2006. Gary’s hard work and determination in the field of television has not gone unnoticed. In 2006, the LI News Tonight team won an NY Emmy for Outstanding Programming about the Arts – for the segment Co-Stars and Roommates. The Fair Media Council (formerly the Long Island Coalition for Fair Broadcasting) and the Press Club of Long Island has also recognized Gary’s collection of work. |

John Bradley joined the NYIT family in June of 2006. As an associate producer and editor for Surreal Life Productions he has worked on award winning documentaries such as Songs In
Shadow: The Making of Carly Simon's 'Film Noir','The Sun The Moon and the Stars, and Reel Radicals: The 60s Revolution in Film.
He also shot, produced and edited a fund raising video for Friends Academy of Long Island. Prior to his production work Bradley taught English as a Second Language for Geos Language Academy both in Japan and New York. He's traveled extensively and in his free time creates video shorts for the web. Bradley graduated from S.U.N.Y. Binghamton with a degree in English and General Literature. He is presently pursuing his Masters degree at NYIT.

Herb Savran has been with LI News Tonight since its inception in 1983. As
Chief Engineer, he is responsible for maintaining the technical operation
and technical facilities for the show. Herb also serves as an Adjunct
Professor in the Communication Arts Department of NYIT, teaching courses in
Media Production and Technology.
Thanks to Herb's technical expertise LI News Tonight has never missed a broadcast due to technical difficulties. He has received extensive technical and broadcast training and holds a B.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts and an M.A. from NYIT. He is a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. |

Anthony F. Piazza serves as vice president of administration. He was the director of educational television for WLIW, Channel 21, PBS and served as producer/director for Telecare, NY. Is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, New York Chapter serving on Blue Ribbon panels determining awards. Additionally, is a member of the Radio and Television News Director Association and the Broadcast Educators Association. |
